The night
Relentless silent and foreboding
With dazzling stars
Ghostly shadows and a silver moon
Brings fear
Senseless, irrational and crushing
From a dark primitive place
Forgotten in time
Fathomless and merciless
It smothers the heart and pierces the soul
Then a glow
A slice of light
That lifts the spirits
And heralds a day like no other
